Sonia Alins is an artist focused on the creation of pieces of art (often three-dimensional) with a poetic narrative of a surreal nature with which she addresses her feelings, desires, dreams and nightmares. Sonia makes extensive use of the human figure (mostly feminine) and, at the same time, she explores the expressiveness of elements such as transparency and blur. Of the artworks in this collection, the artist has said:
"I like to represent women's beauty and sensitivity, but also their strength and character. As a sign of the pride I feel in being one, I made my protagonist in 'Brave' also determined and courageous, with a clear determination when it comes to moving towards the future."
'Meditación' (Meditation) shows how very gratifying it is to get everything around us to stop completely so that we are able to isolate ourselves from any external stimulus and enter the state of inner peace necessary to undertake a sincere process of introspection. The natural aquatic environment here provides the ideal connection to enjoy a healthy and regenerating moment of meditation
One of the maxims of Sonia's ongoing series “Dones d’Aigua” (Water Women) is the idea of connecting different feelings or states of mind with the aquatic environment so that the latter amplifies them and makes them more intense. In 'Bañista entre Corales' (Swimmer among Corals) the underlying idea is to enjoy, to relish, and to fill our mind, body and soul with happiness. A pleasure that is represented in a work of warm tones, with an exuberant nature and where the character connects directly with the viewer to make them participate, invite them even, to share her little paradise.
Sonia obtained a Bachelor in Fine Arts, followed by a post-graduate from the University of Salamanca and later graduated with an illustration specialism from the University of Barcelona. For nearly two decades, Sonia has had a very successful career as a professional illustrator alongside which she created works following her own interests and passion. She has received many international illustration awards including, the 2019 Award of Excellence, Communication Arts Illustration Annual 60, CA, California/USA, the 2019 Gold Award (Design Lotus. Illustration category) and Silver Award (Print Craft Lotus. Best use of illustration category), ADFEST 2019, Bangkok/Thailand, as well as the 2018 Gold Award, Global illustration Award 2018, Frankfurt Book Fair, Frankfurt/Germany.
