'Floral Mind 57' is a new original painting by Minas Halaj an artist who trained in Fine Art Studies first in Yerevan, Armenia, and later in San Francisco, California where he is now based.
The Floral Minds collection is vibrant and reminiscent of the old masters traditions. Of this ongoing body of work Minas has said: "The concept of beauty is a burdened one. We are living in a society that fears its adoration in contemporary art, yet intimidates its women into accepting it as their highest value. We have degraded it in mass media and the celebrity yet revere it above all other qualities of life. Beauty is a double edged sword an instrument of seduction and inaccessibility burdened sword an overwhelming distrust in the simple sensation of pleasure."
Incorporating elements from his classical education with contemporary influences, Minas’ art manifests itself by way of a symphony of graphics, sculptures, collages and figurative compositions. His works combine a number of materials including oil paint, gold leaf, vintage fabrics and other materials and his unique approach has been attracting the attention of art collectors around the world. Minas uses a variety of recycled material including tar as part of the background and pieces of a pre-Victorian dresses to add texture and dimension, making his work deeply complex.
