'Right Foot Blue' is an exceedingly popular hand finished limited edition artwork by Gavin Mitchell, part of his ongoing series 'East Meets West'. Gavin is a London-based artist and photographer who reworks found objects to explore the relationship between East and West.

Having graduated with a BA (Hons) Fine Art, Gavin Mitchell chose to take an extended sabbatical from sugar tints, soft grounds, solarisation and f-stops for a career in design and production, which still allowed him to indulge in creative fantasies. But this never really fully satisfied his artistic appetite.

'My own photography or ‘found’ material provide me with the origins from which my artwork is created, trawling through car boot sales, junk shops and antiques fairs, anything that catches my eye. The story behind my most recognised work started with finding a vintage Japanese postcard with enigmatic images of Geishas. Coincidentally I also found a vintage Playboy magazine at the same car boot sale. The idea of East Meets West/Culture Clash began there.'

Please note the visual simulations of the artwork in a domestic setting included in the photo gallery are provided purely as a visual reference and may not be to scale. If you have a specific space in mind for the artwork, you can email us with the details and we can create a mock up of your space with this specific artwork to scale for you.
