ARTIST STATEMENT

I’m interested in creating utopian microcosms and parallel universes. I like to bring a touch of surrealism in every day life and create a dialogue between fiction and reality, to make collages that manufacture their own reality.

It can be considered as and escape from our own reality. I find myself drawn to the colour pink. I think it is a very powerful and provocative colour which simultaneously can be very controversial. There are all these stereotypes in modern western culture associated with pink. It seems like at some point in the 40s, pink became the iconic feminine colour. Following the transition of this colour, form being strongly female to kitsch and now almost being back to fashionable for anyone is fascinating me. It is definitely one of the strongest associated colour and I love to play with it.
